Answer a call — or turn it down without being rude

Someone is calling and you may or may not be able to talk.

  • You are signed in

Steps

  1. A card appears with the caller's name and Incoming voice call…

It shows their picture too, so you know who it is before deciding.

  2. Tap the green button to answer, or the red one to decline.

  3. If you just need the ringing to stop, tap 🔕 Silence.

That quietens the ring without answering and without declining — the call is still there if you change your mind.

  4. If you cannot talk, use one of the replies under Can't talk? Reply instead.

Three are offered: Can't talk now — text you soon, Call you back in a bit, and On my way. Tapping one turns the call down and sends that message, so the other person knows why.

You will know it worked when

Answering replaces the card with the in-call bar at the top and the timer starts. Declining ends it for both of you; a reply also drops a message into your conversation with them so the refusal is not silent.
