Turn call notifications on or off for this device

Steps

1. 1

   Go to Settings and open My Devices.

   ⚠️ Not Notifications — that is the single most confusing thing about this feature. The bell at the top of your page and the ringing of your phone are two different things, and only the first lives under a heading with that word.

   Scroll to the Call Notifications card.

   It opens with what it is for: DatsMe can ring your phone when a friend calls — even when the app is closed. Without this, you can only receive calls when DatsMe is open in front of you.

   If it is off, tap Enable call notifications.

   Your browser then asks for permission — that prompt is the browser's, not DatsMe's, and it only appears once per device. Until you allow it the card keeps warning: You'll only get calls while DatsMe is open.

   If it is already on, the card reads Enabled on this device and offers Disable on this device underneath.

   That link is inside DatsMe — you do not have to go to your phone's own settings to stop the ringing on this device.

   Optional: tap Test my doorbell to hear it, and pick the sound from the Ringtone list underneath.

   The list comes in groups. BUILT-IN holds Doorbell (the default), Buzzer, Chime, Music Box and Butterfly Song, each with its own Preview. YOUR RINGTONES is anything you added yourself with + Add a ringtone — an audio file from your folders or interests, trimmed to 30 seconds, up to 10 of them.

   Read the line above the list before you choose: the ringtone plays in the DatsMe app, and in your browser while DatsMe is open.

   ⚠️ This is the part that catches people, and it is the same distinction as step 1. A browser push notification — the thing that reaches you when DatsMe is CLOSED, which is the whole reason to turn call notifications on — rings with your device's own sound, not the tone you picked here.
